
National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
A National Vocational Qualification is a work-related, competency-based qualification. These are usually completed in the workplace and are designed for you to gain the specific skills and knowledge needed to do the job.
SVQ Controlling Lifting Operations – Slinger/Signaller
This SVQ is a mandatory requirement for any CPCS red cardholder who has undertaken the A40 CPCS Technical Test.
By achieving this SVQ the red cardholder will be eligible to apply for a CPCS blue competency card which is then valid for 5 years.
This SVQ could also be a means for giving your Employees a qualification after their initial training.
Candidate’s involvement:
The candidate will be asked to keep copies of all work based evidence which will support his/her claim to competence.
This can include any job sheets, time sheets, method statements, risk assessments, records of toolbox talks etc that the candidate has been involved.
Only his/her own work can be used.

This SVQ is a mandatory requirement for any CPCS red cardholder who has undertaken the A62 CPCS Technical Test.
By achieving this SVQ the red cardholder will be eligible to apply for a CPCS blue competency card which is then valid for 5 years.
This SVQ could also be a means for giving your Employees a qualification after their initial Training.
Candidate’s involvement
The candidate will be asked to keep copies of all work based evidence which will support his/her claim to competence.
This can include any Photographs, hire sheets, method statements, risk assessments, records of toolbox talks etc that the candidate has been involved. Only his/her own work can be used.
Controlling Lifting Operations – Appointed Person SVQ
This SVQ is a mandatory requirement for any CPCS red cardholder who has undertaken the A61 CPCS Technical Test.
By achieving this SVQ the red cardholder will be eligible to apply for a CPCS blue competency card which is then valid for 5 years.
This SVQ could also be a means for giving your Employees a qualification after their initial Training.
Candidate’s involvement:
The candidate will be asked to keep copies of all work based evidence which will support his/her claim to competence. This can include safe systems of work for lifting operations prepared by the candidate and which includes method statements and risk assessments etc. Only his/her own work can be used.
